Dawson County

Whether you have a thing for critters, racecars or camping, Dawson County is sure to surprise you. About 40 miles north of Atlanta on Hwy. 400 is where you'll find the colorful and eclectic home of kangaroos, the tallest waterfall in Georgia and the birthplace of NASCAR. As if all that weren't enough to hold your attention, just 8.5 miles north lies Springer Mountain, the southern terminus for the famous Appalachian Trail, and to the southeast, Lake Lanier’s active shoreline marks 49 miles of the county’s boundary. Dawson County includes the city of Dawsonville.
